A message from GMFRS Chief Fire Officer, Dave Russel

Thank you for your interest in becoming an Assistant Chief Fire Officer (ACFO) for Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service (GMFRS). We are one of the largest Fire and Rescue Services in the country, covering the metropolitan county of Greater Manchester in Northwest England.

We have gone through a significant period of change recently and foundations have now been laid for the future of our service – a service which is now building at pace, improving every day, delivering for a new era and capable of meeting the challenges of the future. This is a truly exciting time to join GMFRS and we want you to be part of that journey with us. The opportunity to work within one of the fastest growing city regions in Europe, which is wonderfully diverse, incredibly vibrant and hugely dynamic.

We are actively recruiting for high performing individual, and this role is open to existing Principal Officers, as well high potential Group and Area Managers who are working towards Strategic Leadership roles. We are looking for an exceptional individual to join our senior team to lead, support and help shape our ambitions for the future of the service and for the communities we serve. As an ACFO in GMFRS, you will need to bring outstanding and inclusive leadership to our organisation – leadership that encourages new ways of thinking, collaborative working and an inclusive ‘Culture First’ approach to everything we do.
